TV, Bowling and Picking Up Heavy Things

On the Box

The last month saw Crossfit Manchester make its debut on the nation’s TV screens, or at least half a dozen homes in Manchester.  Channel M came to Crossfit Manchester and the 1pm class made a 3 minute debut on the box.  Those who came did us proud and the piece came over very well as everyone demonstrated their prowess in a “made to impress the cameras” workout of: ring dips, pull ups, cleans, ball slams, kettlebell swings.  Thanks to all who attended and gave us some kind compliments to the cameras between gasping for breath at the end of the workout and to every one of our athletes who are helping us build the community of Crossfit Manchester. We hope to have a dvd of our appearance soon so we can put a link to it on the website and everyone can make further jokes about Mark’s hair!

Bowling Night

Thanks to everyone who came to the inaugural Crossfit Manchester Bowling Night and made it a great success.  The first game was won by Paul K the second by Rob L but for the highest cumulative total, the bottle of bubbly went to Steve Healey, mainly so that a City fan could celebrate something this season!

Hopefully this will be the first of many or our social events and over the next few months we have plans for Friday Night Barbeques, trips to lakeside cottages in North Wales and swinging through the trees at Go Ape!  We are open to any suggestions for future social events

Gym Records Smashed

Everyone at the gym is getting stronger and this is great to see.  Every week sees a host of personal best lifts recorded in the gym and a glance through the results posted daily on the message board  is testament to the progress everyone is making. Stronger, fitter faster! Indeed.  However, it was a privilege to witness the strength on display from a recent visitor to our gym.

After the longest journey so far to visit Crossfit Manchester Easter Weekend witnessed the demolition of all the gym lifting records as Malky and Julie paid us a visit from Inverness.  Julie is an outstanding athlete and one of the growing band of UK based Crossfit Certified Instructors and her husband Malky competes for Scotland in Highland Games around the world.  His Crossfit Total is unlikely to be beaten (until his next visit) and culminated in this amazing 220kg Deadlift.
